City Advances $34,000 for Saratoga Replica Project at City Beach

The City of Plattsburgh is loaning itself enough money to cover construction of a replica of the Saratoga..  If you recall… The Saratoga was anchored in Plattsburgh Bay during the Battle of Plattsburgh in 1814 and it’s Victory helped solidify the American’s control of Lake Champlain at the time… Plattsburgh Mayor Jim Calnon says they needed an advance to get the project started so that it can be ready for the commemoration in the fall.. The Saratoga Replica is expected to be built this summer at the City Beach…  The council approved an advance from the General Fund of 34,000 in order to allow for the project to move forward..   The original Saratoga was a Corvette Ship.. Built and launched on Lake Champlain in 1814… It was 143 feet long.. with a beam of about 37 feet.. The ship itself only drew 13 feet of water and she sailed with 212…

Today in the K&J show we’re going to be talking about expeditionary studies at SUNY Plattsburgh…  In fact Only a handful of programs anywhere in the U.S. take adventure sports’ curricula to advanced levels.
