Today we’re going to look ahead just a few weeks to the Battle of Plattsburgh Commemoration… and this year, Mayor Calnon has tasked the City’s new Events Coordinator Sandra Geddes with helping to coordinate the logistics and the planning of all of the weekend’s activities… We sat down just outside of her office which for the summer is located on the waterfront at the City’s new Marina…. She is focused for the next few weeks on making sure the Battle of Plattsburgh Commemoration goes off without a hitch. The Battle of Plattsburgh Commemoration Committee is seeking volunteers for numerous events and activities throughout the Commemoration Weekend, which is September 10-13.
PARADE – SLIDE“Volunteers are crucial to the overall success of the Battle of Plattsburgh Commemoration.” said the City of Plattsburgh Promotion & Events Coordinator, Sandra Geddes. “This event brings more than 10,000 people to the downtown City streets; our volunteers make it possible to provide the best quality events & entertainment to our guests.”

Nine new exhibits have been rotated to feature original artwork in local Plattsburgh businesses as part of The Strand Center for the Arts Off-Site Gallery program.
The exhibits will be on display from now through September and each features a variety of area artists. The nine Off-Site Gallery locations include the Best Western, Valcour Imaging, Days Inn, The Development Corp, Clinton Community College, Eye Care for the Adirondacks, CVPH and the Plattsburgh Public Library.
The Strand’s Gallery and Museum Coordinator Christina Elliott says “The Off-Site Gallery Program is provided as a service to area businesses in an effort to diversify the visual environment of their offices and give local artists a different level of exposure than a typical gallery audience.” Galleries are rotated on a quarterly basis, (… Click above for More)
