Invasive Species Summit and Awards August 14th in Brant Lake

Brant Lake Association, the Town of Horicon and the Adirondack Council will hold an Adirondack Park Invasive Species Summit & Award Presentation on Friday, August 14 from 11a.m. to 2 p.m. at Horicon Town Hall.

The purpose of the summit is to recognize and celebrate progress combating invasive species at Brant Lake and at surrounding lakes. Participants will discuss updated strategies and priorities, including ways the state can continue and improve its assistance to local communities and lake associations.

Town of Horicon Supervisor Matt Simpson and Brant Lake Association President Wayne Butler will welcome participants, followed by Brant Lake Association Board Member Douglas Schultz and Adirondack Council Executive Director William C. Tupper Lake’s BeachFest Returns to Little Wolf

Today on the K&J Show we’re talking with DEC Wildlife Technician Ben Tabor about nuisance bears in the North Country. We found Ben at Camp Colby a DEC owned camp on Lake Colby in Saranac Lake, across from Adirondack Medical Center and our conversation, while it focused on bears, will take us also to Eagles, and other wildlife in the Adirondack Park.

Summit Lacrosse – An Interview with Organizer George Leveille

The Lake Placid Summit Lacrosse Classic has been happening every summer in Lake Placid for 26 years… And for a perspective on the tournament and it’s impact on the region, we caught up with it’s founder George Leveille at the North Elba Lacrosse Fields.. He says they started in 1990 with 7 teams and back then just 14 games.. We spoke with him at the North Elba Lacrosse Fields on Tuesday afternoon.. Glenn Browne wins FLW Tourny

Glenn Browne of Ocala, Florida, weighed a five-bass limit totaling 18 pounds, 7 ounces Saturday to win the Rayovac FLW Series Northern Division event on the Lake Champlain presented by Plano with a three-day total of 15 bass weighing 63 pounds, 8 ounces. It’s Rugby Weekend

The Old Boys play today through the day.. with the last game at 4pm and on Saturday at least 20 games on all of the fields with Mens and Women’s Club plus the Mens Social teams and a youth Rugby Clinic is scheduled as well… Then on Sunday.. The semi finals and the finals plus the championship game and in anticipation of the athletic fields by Saranac Lake… The Can-Am tournament finals on Sunday are returning to “the bowl” at North Country Community College this year!
