Instead of working for 40 years and then enjoying their golden years, more and more young adults are taking "micro-retirements." This term was first coined in 2007, and describes taking a career pause before retirement age. These sabbaticals and career breaks allow workers to develop hobbies and complete trainings to further their careers. While sabbaticals are sponsored by the workplaces themselves, more and more Gen Zers are instead terminating their employment in order to take this time off.
