Researchers from the University of Padua found that social media can cause stress in real-life teen relationships. Scientists tracked 1,185 teens and found that they're more likely to feel jealous or rejected when they see friends spending time with others on social media. This "digital stress" can have a real-life negative impact on their friendships. "Disappointment from unmet expectations on social media—such as when friends do not respond or engage as expected—is a stronger predictor of friendship conflict than the pressure to be constantly available," study author Federica Angelini said. In short, teens are upset when their friends don't reply, especially if they have posted something fun in the meantime. (Study Finds)
