State agencies using artificial intelligence are at risk says a state audit.
An audit released last week by the Comptroller's office shows the state's oversight of agencies using artificial intelligence is inadequate and creates a risk that technology could be used irresponsibly. The audit looked at the state's overall AI policy and how it was used at four state agencies. None of the agencies have conducted periodic reviews or audits of their AI systems to determine if they are accurate or reliable. The audit made several recommendations including a stronger AI policy for all state agencies.
