Police agencies in NY will focus on looking for violators of distracted driving laws.
Distracted driving is the most common contributing factor in crashes in NY State according to state officials. During Distracted Driving Awareness month NY State Police will conduct "Operation Hang Up" a special enforcement effort to step up patrols and checkpoints targeting drivers on electronic devices.
