The Conservative Party has narrowed its selection down to three Republican candidates, with state Sen. Dan Stec as the party’s preference.
The Conservative Party has selected three Republican candidates for the 21st Congressional District special election: state Sen. Dan Stec, Assemblyman Chris Tague, and Liz Joy, a conservative speaker from Glenville. While all three are under consideration, Stec is the party's preferred choice, according to Conservative party spokesman William O'Reilly. The party will meet with the candidates in the coming days, with discussions ongoing about potentially aligning with the Republican Party to advance one of them. The special election is to fill the congressional seat vacated by U.S. Rep. Elise Stefanik, who is resigning to become the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations. The Democratic candidate, Blake Gendebien, has already raised over $2 million for his campaign, positioning him as a strong contender in the race.
