Fort Ticonderoga is preparing to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the historic 1775 capture of the fort during the American Revolutionary War. A series of events will take place in May, including a march retracing the Green Mountain Boys' route, a fife and drum performance, and a special exhibit featuring unseen items from the fort's collection. Among the exhibit highlights is a soldier's backpack and a letter detailing the soldier’s abolitionist views, potentially linking him to Underground Railroad activities. Fort historian Matt Kaegle notes that the letter reflects the soldier’s commitment to both the revolution and the fight against slavery. The "No Quarter" event will run from May 9 to 11, offering visitors a unique chance to experience this pivotal moment in history.
