The inaugural Lake City Grilled Cheese Competition will raise funds for the National Alliance on Mental Illness Champlain Valley Chapter, with local restaurants competing from April 4-11.
The Lake City will celebrate National Grilled Cheese Day on April 12 with the first-ever Grilled Cheese Competition hosted by the Love, Peace and Grilled Cheese food truck. Starting April 4 through April 11, twelve local restaurants will offer special grilled cheese creations, with community members sampling and rating the dishes. Each grilled cheese sold will donate $1 to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Champlain Valley, promoting awareness for mental health in the community. The competition will be judged by local figures including Mayor Wendell Hughes, with the winning grilled cheese featured on the food truck’s menu for two weeks. The event aims to bring the community together while raising funds for a good cause and kickstarting the local restaurant scene for the season.
