No new budget yet and the delay seems to be over policy matters not spending.
New York State lawmakers are more than three weeks late with a new budget and they're expected to approve another extension today. The hold up reportedly has more to do with policy maters such as discovery laws and cell phones in schools than it does with fiscal concerns even though estimates suggest the new budget will come in at nearly a quarter of a trillion dollars. Since the Governor and leaders of the Senate and Assembly are members of the Democrat party, the high level budget talks have been limited to one political party thus far. The full Senate and Assembly will vote on the results of the ongoing negotiations.
