A state power allocation has been granted to expand Micro Bird operations in Plattsburgh, creating more jobs and increasing production capacity.
Micro Bird, the North American leader in small school buses, will receive a 640-kilowatt power allocation under New York's ReCharge NY program, enabling it to expand manufacturing at its Plattsburgh facility. Governor Kathy Hochul announced that the power allocation is part of a $200 million economic development package aimed at creating jobs and supporting businesses across New York. The allocation will help Micro Bird double its production capacity at the site it acquired from Nova Bus in November 2024, ensuring continued employment for former Nova Bus workers. This investment is part of New York’s commitment to supporting clean energy industries and bolstering economic growth through low-cost hydropower. The state’s support for Micro Bird’s expansion underscores its broader efforts to strengthen the green economy while fostering job creation in the North Country. via The Press Republican
