Today is Earth Day

Some consider Earth Day to be the start of the modern environmental movement.

The first Earth Day was observed on April 22, 1970.  Senator Gaylord Nelson from Wisconsin started it to highlight environmental concerns.  Supposedly, he picked the date to enlist the support of college students who were between Spring break and finals.
