The state health commissioner is pushing water fluoridation as an important public health measure.
New York's health department supports optimal levels of water fluoridation and considers it a significant public health measure according to Dr. James McDonald the state Health Commissioner. McDonald explained in a recent statement that about 13 million state residents receive the benefits of water that is fluoridated but not all NY communities have fluoridated water. Dr. McDonald said the Health Department will continue to support the right of local municipalities to provide fluoridation as a public health option.
