A 32-year-old Indian man confessed to cutting off four fingers to avoid working at a relative's business. The Gujarat man staged an "incident" which resulted in a police investigation. While officers originally thought the man's fingers had been stolen to be used in a black magic ritual, he later confessed to cutting off his own digits with a knife and throwing his fingers away. He said he hadn't wanted to tell his relative that he didn't want to work there, and removing fingers would make him unfit for the job.
