National Park Service Warns Of Eyeball-looking Plant

The National Park Service took to Facebook to warn the public about the white baneberry. The scary-looking fruits of this plant resemble white eyeballs, and are poisonous to humans. "The plant’s most striking feature is its fruit, a 1 cm diameter white berry, whose size, shape, and black stigma scar give the species the name, ‘doll’s eyes,'" the post reads. Birds are unaffected by the plant's toxins, but humans can experience nausea, vomiting, and even death. The white baneberry plant could also be harmful to pets if ingested. However, commenters don't seem to find the baneberry very appetizing. "Well I have to say that if ever there was a plant I would not even touch, never mind eat, this would be it," one user quipped.
