Analysis of a 17th-century letter suggests that playwright William Shakespeare had a better relationship with his wife Anne Hathaway than was previously believed. Many scholars believe that Hathaway did not live with her husband in London, but instead stayed in her home town of Stratford. This letter, found in the binding of a book in the library of the Hereford Cathedral, suggests the two lived together. The communication is regarding giving money to an orphan boy. "For Shakespeare biographers who favor the narrative of the 'disastrous marriage' ... the Hereford document should be a horrible, difficult problem," English professor Matthew Steggle said. (newser)
