Scientists used to believe that snakes didn't have clitorises...but a woman researcher finally found it. Evolutionary biologist Megan Folwell in Australia discovered a lump of tissue in female snakes with "heaps of nerves" throughout. Like the clitorises found in other species, the lump was well-supplied with blood. If this clitoris is stimulated during mating, this might mean snake mating behaviors are more complex than initially thought. "It’s been often believed that, in snakes, it’s been all about coercion, and all about the male driving mating," Folwell said. "It may be a little bit closer toward seduction in some species."
