This sweet treat lived up to its name! Student Javeria Wasim had to have her jaw wired shut for six weeks after breaking it on a jawbreaker candy. Wasim and her friend were shopping when she decided to try to bite into the rock-hard confit. "My jaw started to hurt. My friend looked over and said my tooth was chipped," Wasim said. When she visited the hospital, she learned that she had fractured her jaw in two places. Wasim's jaw was un-wired on December 23rd, and she recommends working through the candy slowly instead of biting into it. (People)
