The five important elements of a news story are, who, what, when, where, and why. And the most important of the elements is almost always "WHY". Why did some big wheel do what he did? Killing somebody is an awful crime. Unless you do it to stop him from killing somebody else. We give medals (justly) to guys who kill lots of other guys who are wearing a different uniform.
