Fans and organizers across the area were deeply disappointed in January when the New York State Public High School Athletic Association’s executive committee voted 12-10 to move the State Boys Basketball Tournament to Binghamton for the next three years. Glens Falls’ Cool Insuring Arena had been the home of the tournament for 35 years until 2016, when it moved to Binghamton for three years. The city won the bid back for the last three years, but the local bid to keep the tournament came up short to Binghamton’s in what organizers saw as a controversial decision. Glens Falls plans to bid again in two years to win back the State Boys Basketball Tournament.
